Friday's Five Random Questions with @psalmone

Psalm One is an impressive emcee, who just happens to be a woman. Will Hermes, Entertainment Weekly wrote about Psalm, "Kanye West and Common gave Chicago its reputation as a breeding ground for innovative rap, Psalm One furthers this tradition." I agree.

The Lady of Rhymesayers Entertainment delivers dope rhymes and fresh music, and continues to further quality Hip-Hop music, regardless of her gender. I'd heard her name and a few loose tracks but it wasn't until her Woman at Work: Volumes 1-3 (kind of late in the game, considering her discography) that I really started paying close attention. After Woman at Work, I started backtracking and checking out some of her older material. She's talented and probably one of the most slept on. You should definitely be checking for Psalm One if you aren't already.

Anyway, this week Psalm One decided to take the challenge. Check out how she answer five random questions after the jump.

Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
Current City: Chicago, Illinois
How long have you been doing music: I've been writing since I learned how to hold a pen; I’ve been rapping since 1995 and I turned pro in 2003.
Discography: (2000) Whippersnapper EP, (2002) Bio:Chemistry, (2003) Nacrobats-Always, (2005) Bio:Chemistry 2: Esters and Essays, (2006) The Death of Frequent Flyer (Rhymesayers), (2010) Woman at Work: Volumes 1-3
Label: Charm Lab/Rhymesayers
Describe your music in five words or less: A look in the mirror.

TMB: Okay, first question. Your celebrity crush at age 10, 15 and now?

Psalm: Age 10 it was Al B Sure (before the rape charge). Age 15 it was Method man for sure! What girl didn’t love Mef?! Today, it’s Idris Elba and that chick Lea from the Bad Girls Club, cuz I like to have a little variety.

TMB: What TV character would you be and why?

Psalm: Does Gordon Ramsey count? He says the most hilarious things; that’s power.

TMB: Which three songs would be on the soundtrack of your life and why?

Psalm: "Don't You Worry Bout a Thing", because Stevie Wonder is my one true love. "Spin, Spin Sugar" by the Sneaker Pimps for the vulnerable and provocative content. And "Do U Lie" by Prince; no explanation needed.

TMB: Who would you marry, smash, eliminate? Nick Cannon, Lil Wayne, DMX. Go!

Psalm: Marry Wayne (kinda obvious reasons). Smash Nick Cannon (he's hot if you look past the goofy). DMX, sadly would be eliminated for he has one foot in the grave already. (Was that bad to say?)

TMB: Okay, last question. One of my favorites too. You walk in the studio for a session and find out Jesus (yes, that Jesus) and Kanye West are producing the track for you. What's the first line of your rhyme?

Psalm: Jesus Walked in but Kanye took the Leer/I'mma need some Water to Wine on this one here…  Damn that girl got BARS (laughs).
