Brooklyn's Sene is preparing to drop his new project brooklyknight, due out April 24th. The album will feature Blu, Co$$, Scienze, Jay Jennings and others, with production from J57, Fonetik Simbol, No Games and more. The video provides the backdrop and inspiration for the new project. What I'm Watching: @SidSriram "We Found Love" (original by Rihanna)

I don't even know if there's much more that can be said about how talented Sid is. Here's his latest cover "We Found Love", originally done by Rhi Rhi. I think what I love most about his version is the personal culture touch he put in the song. Beautiful. With any luck, hopefully we (his fans) can convince him to do a cover of the breathtakingly wonderful "Anwar" by Javeda Zindagi soon.

Again, my hat is off to you.

Kirby Lauryen's A Song A Day: Day 57 & 58

Not enough sites stand behind unsigned talented folks. That's something that we've long been committed too. In pursuit of realness, right? Right. While other sites follow, we try to lead and jump out front when we believe in someone and their music.

Kirby Lauryen has been on our radar for a little while. I thank EMS for bringing her to our pages and sharing her amazing music and beautiful voice with our readers. Yesterday Kirby dropped a wonderful EP. If you haven't, you should download that immediately. I'll wait *grabs Snickers bar*

I hope you've downloaded it by now.

Anyway, Kirby has also been putting out a video series simply titled A Song A Day, recording and releasing a song a day via her youtube channel. She's got some great songs there. So, from this moment forward, we're committed to posting those videos here on a daily basis. Her voice needs to be heard. Support independent music and talented people.

What I'm Watching: ForteBowie "Impala"

Fresh track from ForteBowie with a set of cool visuals to match. But one thing, why is there a Chevy  Camaro in a video for a track named Impala? Here's OC Supreme chilling in Connecticut just itching for an opportunity to get Knight Rider (his all black everything Impala) into a video and yet ForteBowie opts for a Camaro to be the central figure with his beautiful co-star. That's cool because this Camaro is dope as shit too. Ha! I'm sure there's a reason why the Camaro is in the vid and perhaps the quote at the end explains it all. Either way, dope track. I dig it. NEW RELEASE: TheSeKondElement "The Fall From Love: Alpha"

TheSeKondElement returns with a new project. Released last week, she continues a mean streak of putting out quality music. I dig the new work. I'll let her explain the back story to The Fall From Love. Enjoy. Chea!
The Fall From Love is not a mixtape. I wouldn't even call it an album. The Fall From Love is an audio journal complemented by music. Each track is another entry; each entry chronicles a journey that is at the core a universal shared experience. We've all been through it: the fall from love, the fall from grace, the fall from favor, eminence, losing faith, & finding it again.

NEW RELEASE: ScholarMan "Worth Fighting For"

The homie ScholarMan serves up his eighth retail alum. Another solid offering from the Maryland emcee. I could go into depth about ScholarMan's new project but I'll let his words speak for themselves. Enjoy. Chea!
"Worth Fighting For is a testament to the many years of toil I have put in to not only building my craft but also growing and improving as a man and a father. The title of the album represents a question as well as a statement – are your dreams worth fighting for? Your dreams ARE worth fighting for. With that said, this album is another building block within my own struggle as an independent artist. As Talib Kweli once said, my struggle has been a “beautiful one.” I don’t have any regrets with the amount of blood, tears and sweat that I have put into my dream. As always this album contains my ups, downs, loves, opinions and more. I hope you enjoy my latest and greatest. Thanks for the support."

Dunson "Count On It"

Serving as one of my favorite hip-hop artists over the last year with his impressive and lively sophomore album Creative Destruction 2, Dunson is back with his freshest cut, "Count On It" off the fittingly titled upcoming project The Investment. I remember when I first heard one of Dunson's songs, and all I could think was, "who is this guy?" I was taken aback because it has become so extremely rare that an artist puts together such a solid body of work where not one song can be skipped. My hat is off to him, and I'm looking forward to keeping up with his rapidly blooming career.

Just in case you're not familiar with his story, it's pretty cool. So, check it out and enjoy the song:
"Dunson resigned from his career as an investment advisor to become a full-time artist in 2010. After spending a multitude of years playing in bands of different genres, the Maryland native took the chance to become a solo artist focusing on lyrics and production. He has since amassed a receptive, global fan-base, proven through hundreds of thousands of downloads of his self-produced Creative Destruction series, among other projects and collaborations."

What I'm Watching: Copywrite - "Love" feat Tage Future (Of MHz)

This is what I'm talking about. "Dope beats, dope rhymes. This Hip-Hop ain't really that hard, man" © Phonte. Copywrite blazes through this track with the help of Tage Future on a track that will be on Copywrite's "God Save the King" LP. Make sure you check for that at the end of February.

What I'm Watching: ¡MAYDAY! - Death March (Prod. by Plex Luthor)

¡MAYDAY!'s recent video is for their latest single, "Death March," off their Strange Music debut Take Me To Your Leader, coming out on March 26th, 2012. Directed by both emcees, Bernz and Wrekonize, they take a very creative angle to pair with the mood of the track. I've said a lot of positive things about this group and with every release, there's just not enough words. These dudes are talented, dope musicians. Peep the video.

And you can now pre-order Take Me To Your Leader and receive an autographed copy of the album, a limited edition Mayday t-shirt (XL only) and a Take Me To Your Leader sticker when you buy from the Strange Music Store Now!

Organized Rebels - "Men Of A Certain Age" (EP)

Men of a Certain Age is "some feel good, light some sess, ponder and embrace 'life' music" and "for the cats that still wear fitted caps". With CientifiQ at the producer's chair, you definitely feel that kinda vibe they themselves describe. Had this on play a few times and you should too. Organized Rebels, consisting of CientifiQ and Virtue, come through with the mature Hip-Hop that seems to be lacking anywhere commercially. You can learn a thing or two from these dudes. Good music. Check it.

Charity Clay - "Runnin' Man"

Check out Charity Clay's upcoming release "The Smokey Winston Project Redux". She featured on Savant's Soul Music back in December and now she's back with her own single. In this track, she's letting the guy know what's the real deal, throwing her cards on the table. Check it.
