I just linked up with the Minnesota emcee/producer duo O-Lay & Diatonic at the top of the week, and after kicking it off immediately, we decided to work together and I pulled in Chad over at donutsandmilk.com to help re-release their sophomore project. This is their lead single featuring Jocelyn Erickson. Just when you're starting to see a little success, folks start calling and you wonder, why now. Hit play and enjoy. Chea!

What I'm Watching: Gensu Dean - "Forever" (feat. Large Professor)

Gensu Dean comes through with the first visuals of "Lo-Fi Fingahz". This joint features Large Professor and I dig the concept that director Calvan Fowler for DayDream Film Works went with. Gotta teach the kids about that quality Hip-Hop. Peep it.

Clear Soul Forces - Detroit Revolution(s)

Discovered by Royce Da 5'9', this Detroit, Michigan group made up of J-Roc, E-Fav, Wimpy, and Ilajide release their third project titled "Detroit Revolution(s). According to them, they came up with the album name after seeing a painting with the same words and hit the studio to create this project in about a month. From what I hear, that must have been one productive and successful month because this album is pretty good overall. I didn't realize I was 9 tracks in before I even decided to start on this post. This album has a good mix of lyrics, production, meaning, and fun and for a "Name Your Price" tag, you can't really argue with that. Check it out and see what you think.

Tracklist:

1. Detroit Revolution(s) - produced by Illajide 00:54

2. Welcome to the Show – produced by Illajide 02:47

3. Half as Long // Twice as Bright – produced by Illajide 03:34

4. Keep it Movin – produced by Illajide 03:54

5. 15 Minutes – produced by Illajide 04:24

6. Get No Better – produced by KanKick 04:46

7. Stick Em – produced by Illajide 03:41

8. Stack Yo Paypuh – produced by KanKick 04:42

9. The World Is Yours – produced by Illajide 05:13

10. Ass to the Flo – produced by Illajide & King Midas 04:02

11. Fan-Ta-Sa-Ro – produced by Illajide 02:41

12. Rap Attack // Jammin’ – produced by Illajide 03:54

13. Catch Me If You Can – produced by Kankick 04:47

14. Still Driving Down The Freeway – produced by Illajide 04:34

What I'm Watching: The Cranberry Show "Cinema"

You've heard of Maybach music, right? Right. Well, The Cranberry Show's latest offering is what I'd like to call stalker music. Ha! Fresh out of Milwaukee, TCS has been making their rounds with Paranormal Karaoke and now they're delivering the first video from that new project. You gotta dig a vid with a deep plot. What I'm Watching: Logic & Raze "EYE GEE OH"

With direction from Jack and Nick Packard, Logic & Raze deliver up the video for the Raze produced Eye Gee Oh track off their ...STILL untitled project. To me it's always dope when underground / indie heads create better videos than their mainstream peers, when the budgets are so vastly different. This is an example of a better video. I definitely respect what the Milwaukee duo did with this new set of visuals. I dig this highly addictive video/track combo. Dope.

I'll let the homie JC Poppe take the rest from here.
Milwaukee's semi-psycho, semi-party hip-hop group Logic & Raze have just released their latest music video, this time for their song "Eye Gee Oh."

The song is a bar fight anthem and the music video, directed by FunnyOrDie's Jack and Nick Packard, takes the visual representation of the song to a creepy new level of cinematic doom.

I imagine that a lot of people who don't live in Wisconsin like to believe that all we have in the state is beer, brats, Packers fans, and cannibalistic serial killers (Ed Gein and Dahmer), and the music video for "Eye Gee Oh" does nothing to disassociate Wisconsin from latter.

I always know when I like something I've heard because I catch myself smiling by the time the song is over. I was put on to Rafael Casal by one of my home girls, and suffice it to say, I'm really digging this guy. Coming out of the Bay Area, Casal's flow kicks through the door swinging.

Interview: Miss Special x Mick Boogie

A few weeks ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to interview one of my favorite DJ's Mick Boogie after his set at an Above Ground party in SF. We spoke about his days in college radio, DJ-ing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, how he chooses the artists he works with and the process behind his projects. We also spoke about where he found the Pharrell intro on his Pharrell tape, the process behind the Dilla tape, working with Nitty Scott, MC, his favorite project he's done, his favorite artists to work with and his favorite tracks to play when he does live DJ sets. He also spoke about Little Brother, doing an upcoming Beastie Boys tribute project, possibly a Neptunes Side B project and more.

What I'm Watching: Kris Collins - "Climax" (original by Usher)

I've probably watched this video about 5 or so times and each time I listen to it, I get more and more impressed with the cover. Around the 2:20 mark, the harmonies become emotionally overwhelming in one of the greatest ways possible. There are so many things that were done right with this remake; I probably wouldn't have time to go over them all. Kris did such an impressive job in turning "Climax" into a song that fits his style, and even adding a little bit of the rocker, punk edge. Again, bravo. Take a listen and see for yourself. Enjoy!

RoQ'y TyRaiD - "Her Bourne Identity"

RoQ'y is back with some new heat and he continues to impress me.

The track details the struggle of a woman fighting to gain and understand her own cultural identity. While this is song is specific to one actual woman from a specific cultural background.. this song is meant to have a universal feel.. therefore, is the type of music you could show your younger sister or daughter.

"Her Bourne Identity" features production from Jimmy Flight and the voice of Ms Payne from Atlanta.
