What EMS Is Watching ... "Letter To My Son" - @MrDonTrip

I was wondering when dude was going to blow up; and finally I have an official name. Just like I saw someone else say, I REMEMBER when I first saw the raw and beautifully unpolished version of this cat and it was so real. And it's still realer than ever with a little splash of Cee-Lo Green. Enjoy. Oh, and just in case you don't remember the original, check it out below.

Signif "Embracing Rejection"

For a female in Hip-Hop, there's tons of rejection before some people even hit play on the music. It's just the way it is in the male dominated industry. For the Milwaukee bred NYC resident Signif, she's embracing rejection on her latest project and as she says, it's a testament to her continued trails and tribulations as she continues to define who she is as an emerging artist.

I've known Sig for a minute now. She's one of those folks who I'm actually cool with outside of the music. She's good people and I dig her music and style. She's no cookie-cutter emcee either. Her moves and music are always deliberate, well thought out and fresh. She continues that on her latest project presented by TMB, HipHopisCoolAgain.com and KevinNottingham.com.

We're honored to bring you the 16 track LP as a follow up to her spring EP Significant Wizdom with producer Gee Wiz. On Embracing Rejection Signif brings production from Tay Lee, Sauce Fonda, Gee Wiz, HPthaHybrid, Haz Solo, and more. Hit play and vibe with our homegirl Signif. Embrace rejection. Chea!

Uncommon Presents "Save the Horn" for East African Famine Relief

I'm not from the school of copy/paste posts but I think the folks over at Uncommon sum things up in their email better than I can even attempt. So, I'll let they take it from here.
Uncommon Records humbly presents our 2nd "Pop Up Album", Save the Horn.  All proceeds from Save the Horn will be donated to Charity:Water which builds water wells in the 3rd world.  They are currently raising funds to finance a drilling rig that can dig multiple wells in the country of Ethiopia.  All of the dollars donated to Charity:Water are verified to be going toward specific wells via Google Maps and photos that are directly associated with the dollars.  Even their overhead comes through a separate income source.

Save the Horn will only be available for one month (10/28-11/28), we will then donate all funds raised from the sale of the album and it will never be available again.  This creates a rare piece of music in the digital format.  The album contains 16 songs for only a $5 donation, although we would encourage you to donate more if you can.

Save the Horn features music from Uncommon's roster like Acid Reign, Adam Warlock, Atari Blitzkrieg, Pruven, Short Fuze, Taiyamo Denku, Masai Bey, DCK VNNGT along with collaborations with fellow Progressive Hip-Hoppers like JunClassic, Billy Woods, Megabusive, Aeon Grey, Passive65ive, Carl Kavorkian, Zesto and more.  The list of producers banding together is also impressive including Nasa, Agartha Audio, IV the Polymath, Black Tokyo, Waatu, Bond and others.

The opportunity to present staunchly Progressive Hip-Hop like this in a joint effort to raise money for a worthy cause is an honor.  We were able to make a difference with Japan Earthquake Relief earlier this year with a similar project, now we need to send the same love to Africa.  Thanks to everyone that takes part, and enjoy the tunes!!!

RoQ'y TyRaiD - "RoQupy Music"

I'm just going to give you the words straight from the source because honestly, I couldn't have described it better myself.

Peace. In light of recent events, I think it's important more of us artists openly speak out and voice our opinions about the state of our culture.. not "hip-hop" but our society as a whole. Still, in this New Depression.. we (hip-hop) use escapism like a reality-altering drug by masquerading the plight of our economy and LACK of jobs with the glorification of materialism in ways not even the "shiny suit era" could rival. Yet, we dare not speak of politics... ??! Social Awareness is that Taboo?? Most won't even acknowledge our collective, impending demise.. without it being used as a marketing ploy, of course (i.e. all the "recession-themed" songs / albums )... So, i dug deep into my "The Podium" roots..

Voiced my frustration..

So.. with out further delay..

Artist Inside Scoop: Natasha Ramos ... "Dream Seller"

If any of you have been following us over the last few months, you all know that Natasha Ramos has quickly become one of our favorites over here at The Mad Bloggers.com and has created an insanely awesome and rapid internet buzz with her talent, beauty and fierce hustle producing quality music. Natasha released her first mixed tape Feelin' Myself in March of this year and has been consistently giving the masses hit after hit. From the fiery video for "Dysfunctional" and simple beauty of "Walk Away" to the sexiness of "Strawberries" and giving her own spin on "Marvin's Room," Ramos gives us an opportunity to experience a wide variety of written and vocal artistry while conjointly allowing her fans to become acquainted with her charismatic personality through her music. And I more than believe she'll do it again with her upcoming release of Dream Seller.

Last night, Natasha hit me up and gave us the inside scoop of her new project Dream Seller scheduled to be released the first week in November. I am very excited to see what she has in store for us next. Feelin' Myself has definitely kept us satisfied, but I'm ready for an early Christmas gift. And of course, once released, we'll be sure to have the project available to everyone a.s.a.p. In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at the track listing

1. In My Head (intro)
2. Dream Seller
3. Fantasy
4. You
5. Mannequin
6. Unreachable
7. Money
8. Feelin Good

Just in case you need a refresher, here's a quick listen of her first project. And again, if you're not familiar, here's the chance to get familiar. She's dope. You'll love her. Trust us. Enjoy!

What EMS Is Watching ... Unknown Lyric at Emerging Art Scene in Atlanta, GA

So every now and then I like to throw in a curve ball for the audience. I saw these cats in person at a jazz competition about a year ago and impressive isn't quite the adjective to cover it. The classic fusion duo, Unknown Lyric, is comprised of two exceedingly talented artist musicians, violinist Kevin Grayson and acoustic guitarist, Jeremiah Turner. A short, new video of theirs (or at least new to me) performing at Emerging Art Scene popped into my Facebook stream and I couldn't help but share it. Enjoy.

What EMS Is Listening To ... "Seek and Destroy" x @theycallmeBK

Is she dope? Yes. Is she gorgeous? Absolutely. Can she sing? Most definitely! I got this in the inbox yesterday, and Q said, "You might like." Well I can tell you, I most assuredly love it. I actually had this on repeat going to the home front this evening. What's so fresh about Bridget Kelly's "Seek and Destroy" is that it's categorically blunt and simple. I like that! Hell, I wish more things in life were that easy. Ha! This is probably the anthem of all anthems, which interestingly enough, could be useful on both sides of the fence. Kelly's EP Every Girl just dropped two days ago, so I suggest you check it out! You can download it at her website, bridgetkelly.com. I've told the masses how awesome she is, so now it's on y'all. What EMS Is Watching ... "Love On Top" x @KrisWak (original by Beyoncé)

So... it's late nights like these when I go trolling the internet and stumble upon awesomeness like this. I was spending the last few minutes of my night on YouTube seeing what was what and the first time I got notice of Kris Collins was when I watched his co-cover of Frank Ocean's "We All Try" with his best friend Dom (which, by the way, was very good). Then I mosied on over to the Facebook Fan Page and saw the cover of Beyonce's latest. I thought to myself, hmmm I wonder how this is going to go. Can we say cutest thing ever?! I love his voice, he's extremely talented and I, for one, plan on finding out more about Kris' music. I think this would definitely serve as something nice for the dames! Enjoy.

What I'm Watching: Denzil Porter "Kanye West"

I've played this track a few times today. I dig it. Maybe because sometimes I'm an asshole. Ha!
"Inspired by the stereotypical New York City resident. New Yorkers: hardworking, tough and outspoken are often viewed to those outside of the city as just plain assholes. What EMS Is Listening To ... "My Drug" x The 17th

Let me just start with saying, WOW! I actually stumbled across this little gem by happenstance. The 17th followed me on Twitter, and whilst checking out the profile, I noticed a link. Funny thing is, I rarely click on folks' twitter links, but something just said, "Yo, go check this out." And lo and behold... Dope! I've always been a fan of fusing genres and "My Drug" is a perfect amalgamation of hip-hop and rock. It's edgy, eerie and all over the place but in the most beautiful way that a song can be crafted. I promise, that's a compliment (I'm not always the best wordsmith). Something else I love about this song is that you're able to just lose yourself in the music. Sometimes, we definitely all need that.

But, "My Drug" isn't the only thing that The 17th has to offer. Over on the17th.com, the player at the top has a few other songs that I think you guys will dig in addition to this one. So, enjoy!

What EMS Is Listening To ... "Liquid Lava Love" x Kevin Michael

Now... considering that I didn't starting writing for TMB until like May of 2010, this does not count as a late pass! Ha! Kevin Michael, as an underrated artist in my humble opinion, is probably one of my favorite. He's eclectic, his music is fresh, raw, in constant rotation for me... everything. And off of his 2007 debut album Kevin Michael, "Liquid Lava Love" happens to be in my top 3 as far as dope songs. Although this may be "more appropriate" for a Friday or Saturday night (el-oh-el), enjoy it tonight. Signif "Like My Style"

A month or so ago Signif reached out to me about sponsoring her upcoming project, Embracing Rejection. I responded immediately with a yes, because it was a no-brainer. TMB has supported the NYC by way of Milwaukee emcee for sometime now. The girl is dope. Believe that. Ahead of her new project presented by TMB, KevinNottingham.com and HipHopisCoolAgain.com, Sig drops off Like My Style. Fresh cut out the gate. Hit play and enjoy. Chea!

SNEAK PEEK: Maal Himself "Ms. Beverly Hills" (Trailer)

Folks that know me typically know I don't post too many trailers. Actually I can recall the few other times that I have. But I'm excited about the new Maal Himself project and I'm eager to peep the full visual for his Ms. Beverly Hills track released back in June. The cut features The Diva and Jon Frost, and the video stars Maal Himself and Esmeralda Vargas, with Mark Gage behind the lens. It looks like this video is cray. Ha! Look for the full length vid soon. In the meantime enjoy the sneak peek. Chea!

Interview: Miss Special x Fly.Union

A little while ago the guys from Fly.Union called in to Special Sundays Radio Show and we got to talk about many topics.  We started with how they got their name, the idea behind the lifestyle "the greater than club" and the actual album "The Greater Than Club"; including the vision and the features. We also spoke about the value packs that they released, if they will release more, their clothing line and Jerreau and Iye working with BJ The Chicago Kid on "The Life Of Love's Cupid". In addition we spoke about Iye and Jay Swifaa's group MnkeyWrench; including their latest project "Until Forever" and the video for "Lights Out", their fathers being in a funk band together, their N.E.R.D influence, and what's next for them.
